La Vida Buena

The Torres family travels two and a half hours by bus each day to
work as domestics in Laredo, Texas. When their employer announces
he's selling his property, they are devastated. When the new owner
"invites" them to stay on, they are overjoyed. But they may be going
from one form of servitude to another. The children begin to have
misgivings, but their fears may be too late.

States itnerns its own citizens? In February 1942, all American
cicitzens of Japanese descent living in the western U.S. were
ordered to leave their homes with only the valuables they could
carry. We explore the perspective of one family imprisoned behind
the barbed wire near Manzar, California, in this explosive play
about one of America's greatest missteps in history.
