Shopping & F***ing
breaks the safety glass on our consumer-obsessed society and
exposes a world that we have helped create but choose to
ignore. Mark Ravenhill's darkly hilarious but shockingly
real play exposes the sordid lives of Mark (Patrick Kelly,
Lulu (Katie Haroft) and Robbie (Julio Jacobo), three young
derelicts drifting and stealing their way through life;
addicted to substance and addicted to each other. Mark,
unable to care for his friends or himself, attempts to
reduce his relationships to nothing more than a series of
transaction by leaving the house and sacking up with a call
boy named Gary (Kevin Morrison) who's sitting on a mountain
of troubled secrets. And after Lulu "auditions" for a
twisted television producer (John Whitley) who gives her and
Robbie a bag full of ecstasy to peddle, everyone's lives
continue to spiral further towards a point-of-no-return
climax that will make you want to leave, but unable to move.
